i like to tell stories with paintings!
Oh, I bet this old Chevy has some stories to tell! I stumbled upon this 'ol fella on a hike in Vichy Springs, California.
Provence in the Fall is filled with such beautiful and sensuous sights, sounds and aromas . Ahhhh...
I felt this Vichy Springs passageway was the perfect metaphor for what we've been going through in our troubled 2020 year. I'm an eternal optimist, and I believe we'll get through it, one step at a time.
This beautiful photo (taken by a talented Photography student at CSM while I was a professor teaching Graphic Design) was my "Ah Ha" moment. I was captivated by the textures on the walls, doors and windows contrasted by this brand-spanking bicycle parked in front. Was the rider inside the building? Did he/she park the bike there to take the shot? What stories lie beyond that door?
On the way to the magical and mystical Incan ruins in Machu Picchu, we stopped in Cusco, Peru. While strolling through the colorful and lively city, we came upon this music school. The building was literally falling down and required timber to keep the walls up. Pursuing one's passion for art knows no boundaries.
My husband's family is Basque and when we visit his family in the South of France, they always say that the Basque country is the most beautiful in the world. They may be partial to their homeland, but they certainly have a point!
Over the course of 7 days, I walked the last 90 miles from Sarria to Santiago, Spain on a pilgrimage known as the Camino de Santiago. I took this photo on our final day as we descended into Santiago. It was a magical moment.
While visiting in Santiago, Spain, we happened down a side street where this forgotten home stood abandoned and for sale. I wondered who had lived there and what stories occurred beyond that door.
Birds can teach us so much about being in the moment, as they seem to be so peaceful, so calm, so unaware of the news of the day. Birds have much to teach us, and I'm an ardent pupil!
After painting the Basque countryside filled with the happiest of lambs, I wanted to paint a small flock in Ireland that appeared to be equally content. Most content and proud of all is the shepherd.
While traveling in Luca, Italy I came upon this interesting gateway.
While traveling in Luca, Italy, I happened upon a gorgeous winery and decided to do a little wine tasting. After a few pours the vintner invited us to visit his great-great grandfather's wine cellar where much of the memorabilia and wine had been there for nearly 100 years!
As we were walking home one night in Granada, Spain, my friend walked ahead of us and I captured this shot. I just love how the street lights shone upon him producing this silhouette.
I painted this from a photo taken in Vichy Springs, California. The scene reassured me that my Mom is resting peacefully now. There's an angel looking over her, can you see it?
I painted this from a photo taken in Princeton Harbor, Half Moon Bay, California
I painted this from a photo taken on Main Street, Half Moon Bay, California. The local watering hole!
